Write your thoughts and opinions of the writing conference process? Was it more or less helpful than your normal revision process? Would could be done to improve it? The writing conference helped me revise my essay tremendously. When i turned it in the first time, i thought it was the best paper i had ever written and i was having troube making corrections. Talking to you and hearing your input helped me figure out what was wrong. I think the post conference isnt as necessary as the pre conference.
I really appreciated the writing conference. I think it was much more helpful than the normal revision process because no matter what there are always some things we can’t understand really without talking them through with you. I do feel it’s important to have both a pre and post conference just to double check and make sure we’ve improved the way you wanted us to. I think this strategy would be very very very helpful on the research paper. Every other year I’ve been forced to spend time out of class to meet with my teacher to discuss my paper. This would save us both that trouble.
I thought the writing conference was a pretty good idea. I did well on my essay so I did not need it as much, but the conferences could help me in the future. It was nice to actually hear what I did wrong on my essay as opposed to you just writing our mistakes down and then I would correct them. I would have to say that we should do this for our research papers because it will be usful to me as well as others.
I thought the writing conference really helped me. It was great to be able to talk with the person who graded it because then I was able to figure out exactly why I was wrong. I think a pre conference is the only thing needed. A post conference is a waste of time in my mind. I would love for us to do this in the research paper cause I need a good grade on it.
I really like the writing conferences. They gave me a clear direction and helped me fix my mistakes very easily. We should definately do these for our research papers. They were very useful and helped me understand what to correct and what I did wrong. They would also save a lot of time in the revision process.
Just like everone else who has made a comment I really did like the conference. It really helped me be able to rework my paper into something that was much better the second time around. I did not feel the need for the second conference. I could see it being helpful if you had problems revising, but I did not have any problems and did not feel that the second conference was needed.
I thought the writing conference was very helpful. When I got my paper back and looked and what you had written I was confused about some of your comments and did not necessarily agree with them. However, when I met with you you were able to explain to me what you meant and I was able to correct my mistakes better because i actually understood what I was correcting and what exactly you were looking for. I think having conferences for our research paper would be extremely helpful!
I think that the writing conferences helped a lot. I liked it a lot better than the normal revision process. We should do it this way from now on, and the preconference helps more than the postconference.
I thought the post conference was a great idea. I had the chance to ask you questions and understand what YOU believe is a good introductory and concluding paragraph. A pre-conference might not be a bad idea I just don’t think it would help me the way a post conference did. My problem is not coming up with or organzing my thoughts, it is getting them down coherently on paper! Over all I give the conference idea the go ahead to continue…Merry Blogging!!
I thought that the writing conference process was very helpful. I thought that it was much more helpful than the normal revision process because it was easier to unnderstand what you wanted me to correct and change on my essay. It also helped hearing your inputs and suggestions. I think that we should definitely use this process for our research papers.
I felt the writing conference was a good idea. I was able to revise my essay and get those needed points back. It was good to hear from you exactly what I need to do to make it better. Instead of just correcting any red pen marks I saw. We should do this next time we have revisions for our papers.
I think the writing conferences went well and it was helpful for fixing our papers. I also think that we should have conferences before we actually start the paper, so we are on track and a post conference for points back isn’t quite as necessary, and it would help us not to totally bomb our papers ever again. Conferences are a good idea, but I think we should have them before we start writing the paper to make sure we are on the same page and the assignment isn’t confusing.
I like the conference process because it helps us understand a little better how it is that you want us to correct the paper. It takes a little more time, but it also keeps us distracted from midievil or canturbury tales type stuff. It makes me more comfortable knowing that you have approved all the corrections that I would like to make.
I thought that the writing conference process was a success. I thought it was more helpful than my normal revision process because I was able to see what the teacher thought would improve my paper rather than a peer. The teacher is the one who ultimately grades the paper, so it benefits me more. I think that if we were able to have more time to talk about improving our paper, it would help us. I think it is necessary to have a pre and a post conference because it shows the development of the paper. I would like to see this done during the research paper because it will be useful to me and help me improve my work.
I do think that the writing conferences were very advantageous to us as a class. Where some students may not have made the grades they desired on the hero’s journey paper, even those who did do well still were able to see room to improve. It was efficient for we as the students to point out our faults and how to fix them after seeing your remarks. I definitely think you should use this writing conference strategy for our research papers, especially because we will probably be spending almost as much if not more time on that paper than we did on the hero’s journey paper. Students will undoubtedly want to see exactly what it is that they are counted off for, especially with the hard work and time we will inevitably spend on the upcoming research paper.

It’s been a while since we blogged. The writing conference was good. I thought it was more helpful. Im not sure on what to improve. I think it’s a must to have a pre and post conference. We get a lot more detailed feedback having 2 conferences. The pre conference help me figure out what your cryptic symbols on my paper meant. I would like to do this conference with our research paper.
I think the writing conferences help a lot. They help give me new ideas and new angles on things I hadn’t previously thought about. I think they would be a great help during the research paper. It would be a great way to help the creative process and help prevent getting writer’s block.
The writing conference was very helpful in that everyone has their errors described to them. It also helped me understand what errors I did and why i did them. This helped drastically when rewriting my paper in that i understood what to fix and why I had to fix it. It would be better if we had more time in our conference and went more in dept but i understand it would be hard for the teacher to do that with so many students.
I think that the writing conference was a great idea. It was very helpful for me because it is hard for me to pick out my own mistakes. The pre-conference was the most helpful because it gave me an opportunity to change my mistakes before the paper was graded. The post-conference was alright, but I already knew what I had to correct based on what grades I received on each section.
i think the writting conference helped because i really hated my book/didn’t understand how the characters went through a journey because almost nothing got accomplished, i read what the sparknotes people wrote like u told me and it helped me figure out what the main theme was and i think it helped my paper overall
The writing confrences were great. I understood what i was missing from my paper. It also helped me understand my weaknsses in writing. Our class should have these confrences with the reaserch papers.
The conference helped out because I got a bad grade on the paper and couldn’t understand why until I heard your reasoning behind it. It helped make the corrections easier to do and I think it brought my grade up a bunch based on the paper before.
The writing conferences were really helpful. I understood exactly what I did wrong and was able to fix it very easily. It was also helpful becuase the mistakes I mad were explained to me so in the future I hopefully won’t make the same mistake. Our class should definitely have these conferences with our research papers to make sure we are on track and doing just fine.
I thought that the writing conferences were very beneficial, especially the one before our corrections. Meeting with you allowed me to understand what it was you were looking for as opposed to assuming based on the small notes you write. It also allows for me to run my thoughts by you before I change the paper. I’m not sure if the post-revision conference is necessary though. I just don’t know if there is anything in it for us. Either way, I thought the pre-revision conference was very beneficial.
I think that the writing conference was extremely helpful and should definitely be used in the future. It thoroughly helped me to ammend my mistakes. I think that my research paper will be terrible, so this would definitely help. We need to do this frequently during the research paper process. I am a huge fan.
I really enjoyed using the writing conferences for our revision work. It made clear what I needed to change to improve my paper. Having a pre-conference and a post-conference is very essential in this process. This has been the most helpful way of revision that I have had in a long time.I believe it would be very helpful on future papers as well as the research paper. I am sure that I will stay on top of things better and my revisions will be more clear.
I thought the meetings were very beneficial! It was good to hear your opinions on our papers, rather than just highlighting our mistakes. I will, however, say that I disagree with the grading system. Those that did well on the paper are punished because we do not get bonus for the 3rd nine weeks. If the points were added into the 2nd nine weeks, that is one thing. But everyone is supposed to start out equal every new nine week and now those that did well are being, in a sense, pushed back down. Just a thought.
I thought meeting with you were a good idea. I think it helped me to have time one on one with you to talk about my paper. It also let me ask you very specific questions that I would not usually be able to ask you.I think this will be VERY VERY helpful during the research papers. My paper will be so much better because I am able to ask you questions and understand my errors.
I feel that the confrences that we had were helpful. There were certain comments on my paper that I did not understand completely so it was extremely beneficial. Even though I did not do such a fabulous job with my paper, it was helpful to hear what Mrs. C had to say. I feel that having the conferences with the research paper will help many of us. I Hope I do better with the research paper than I did with this last paper.
I liked the writing conference method of revising. It really helped me understand what I needed to change my mistakes into. It also helped in understanding some of your handwriting. The post conference was not as necessary as the pre-revision conference. It was nice to see how you added to my grade though. It would definitely help in the research process. In the research process it would be helpful to have conferences mid-writing rather than after the written and before revisions.

I think that the writing conference was very helpful. I would like to have it where we have a writing conference before we write our actual paper, along with the one afterwards. The prewriting conference would allow us to ask any questions one-on-one and help ask questions on things we may not cleary understand. The postwriting conference is good because it allows us to understand our mistakes and fix them for our next paper. I think it would be good to have this during the research paper because I believe that not everyone is going to understand the true concept of what we are trying to write about.

It was really nice to be able to talk to you and see what you were thinking when you marked things wrong and to also have you explain how to change mistakes. I thought the writing conferences were very beneficial. Sometimes when you, or any teacher, makes comments on paper, it is hard to understand what you want us to do to it. Actually discussing the problems in person helps you make sure that the student and teacher are on the same train of thought and are interpreting the comments the same way. While a post conference is certainly not necessary if you correctly altered your essay, it is helpful if you did not. That way you can be sure to make the corrections on the next essay. I would definately like to see more writing conferences during the research paper process. It would actually be very helpful to have several at different points throughout the process. For example, after requiring us to write a certain amount of the paper, you could give a small grade (like a 10/10) for a genuine attempt and completion of the required amount. Then you could have a short writing conference discussing what should be changed in the revision and then give the revision a proper grading for a greater point value. That could be done at several points during the process. I think that having several writing conferences throughout could leave us all with much better research papers.
I think the writing conferences were more helpful than the usual do-it-yourself revisions. I liked that we prepped for them beforehand with that sheet. It made me more aware of what needed to be done and what questions I had. I haven’t had a post-conference yet, but I don’t really think they would be neccesary. I would like to have these during research paper time. I think they would really help.
