The Plan
Lady Macbeth has devised a plan that should secure the title of King for Macbeth. What do you think are some loopholes in the plan? Does this remind you of any other book or movie plan? Why do you think Macbeth is so easily persuaded? Also, add your thoughts on their relationship so far.
I think he is being very stupid in that why would she be trying this hard to get him more power…Obviously she is going to want something for herself. She easliy persuades him by reverse psychology and also that guys are stupid when it comes to girls and a guy will usually do anything a girl wants of him. I think the relationship is her using him to gain power or fortune. I do not think at all that she likes him the way he thinks she does.
I think Lady Macbeth’s plan is extremely interesting. First of all, its hard to get ten guards drunk, and for them to not know about it. What if they remembered who got them drunk and then all the blame would be put on them. This reminds me a lot of “Chronicles of Riddick” where this lady convinces her husband to kill the king because the king is weak. The girl justifies his action because she says its better for their people. Macbeth is like a piece of paper in that he gets pushed around by his wife. Im not sure their relationship is the best because I have not seen that present in the text. It seems like they should change bodies and it would at least make more sense to me. Macbeth is weak and his wife is strong and cruel.
This story reminds me of Adam and Eve. Adam falls because of Eve’s curriosity. The apple is just like becoming the king. It is the unknown that is so attractive. I think Mcbeth is easily persuaded because he is a man. He has a big ego and cannot bear to be less of a man in his wife’s eyes. It is sad, but men are easily persuaded by women I feel. Thier realationship is obviously run by Lady Mcbeth.
I think that Macbeth is easily persuaded because of Lady Macbeth’s confidence and persistence. I also think that she has convinced herself that this plan will work, therefore convincing Macbeth. I think that they have a very weird relationship. I dont really understand it. It will be interesting to see if Lady Macbeth’s plan works.
This plot to kill Duncan reminds me of every other plot ever created. Every story that has a plot to kill someone in order to get something else are all very similar. I think that Macbeth is so easily persuaded is the fact that he want to be King very badly. If you really want something you may be persuaded to do something wrong to get what you want. What can we say, he is human.
I think the first loophole is getting the guards drunk. I would think that as guards, they wouldn’t allow themselves to get drunk. In other words, I don’t think they would be drinking in the first place if they are supposed to be protecting the king. Macbeth is so easily persuaded because Lady Macbeth has him wrapped around her finger. Lady Macbeth seems to be the dominant member of the relationship and Macbeth is submissive, a little role reversal. It’s as if Macbeth is Lady Macbeth’s pawn.
I biggest problem is making sure the king is asleep when they carry out there plan. If the king wakes he will be able to call anyone for help and not only will there plan have failed, but they would be going to jail. I think Macbeth is so easily persuaded by Lady Macbeth becasuse she is his wife. If he cannot trust his wife than he can he trust. Obviously, Lady Macbeth is the dominant figure in their relationship. This is very shocking since Macbeth is such a great warrior that he would take orders from his wife like he does.
I think the loopholes in the situation are getting the guards drunk because maybe one of them will get drunk but not the other. They have a duty to protect the king and they wouldn’t jeopordize that for one night of fun and festivities. Lady Macbeth is such a persuasive women and Macbeth hangs on her every word that he will pretty much do anything that she tells him. Lady Macbeth wants Macbeth to have all of this power but what is she getting out of the deal? She must have another plan that Macbeth is not filled in on yet.
I think that the biggest loophole in Lady Macbeth’s plan is that it is based largely on a series of events, each of which has some probability of failure. For example, she counts on the fact that the guards will be drunk enough, or that Macbeth can overpower Duncan, or that Duncan’s sons will get blamed rather than themselves. Macbeth seems to be controlled by Lady Macbeth more than just a little. Their relationship does not seem very normal.
I think that Lady Macbeth has Macbeth whipped. She calls all the shots in that relationship. Lady Macbeth’s plan probably won’t work because there are too many things that have to go perfectly in order for it to work. All of the things that the guards have to do in order to be framed probably won’t work out perfectly. Macbeth probably will have trouble killing Duncan also.
i think that macbeth is kind of blinded by the idea lady macbeth came up with about how easy the there is a very quick road that he could go down to becoming king which he wants really bad that he is sure by the way she talks about it that there plan is fullproof and i guess them being as confident as they seem to be see no other plan except that it should work.
I think that Macbeth is allowing himself be manipulated very easily. He should have realized what she is trying to do and he should not let her control him so easily. I also think that it would be very easy for the plan to go wrong and that one o fthe big problems is that the whole thing depends on the gaurds getting drunk.
The only thing that seems to be a problem to me is that nothing can ever be that easy. Not only is murder hard to get away with the plan is to murder a king. The plan just seems too simple with no secondary plan in case of a mishap. Macbeth knows what he wants but is just too scared to go and get it. Macbeth is persuaded because he is looking for someone to guide him the right way. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have an opposite role than there genders would imply. Lady Macbeth owns her husband.
