The Awards
Today I asked you guys to cast your vote for my former student, Melinda Toole – Miss Alabama, to win the Miss Congeniality award in the Miss America pageant. Please take some time (today only) to go to http://www.cmt.com/shows/events/miss_america/2007/miss_congeniality/ and vote.
Since everytime I turn around there are awards shows on the television promoting movie and TV actors, I thought we would pay tribute to the characters that we have studied thus far. Choose 4 of the following categories and “vote” for a character that we have studied this year to win that award. Be sure to justify your reasoning with a sentence or two to back up your choice.
- Best Actress
- Best Actor
- Best Supporting Actress

Best Actoress-Lady Macbeth-she is so fake she has great acting skills
Best Villian-Grendle-he is an evil dude with bad intentions on his heart
Best Supporting Actor-Wiglar-he is loyal to the end and the character could not have won without his help
Best Overall Screenplay-Canterbury Tales- Its diversity and real life scenarios are cool
Best Villian- Lady Macbeth because she is a crazy freak
Best Actor- Christopher (dog in the night time..) beacuse he is very complex and deep.
Best Fight- Beowulf v. the Dragon because Beowulf finally lost.
Best Supporting Actor- The Green Knight because he taught many lessons without stealing the spotlight.
Best Line: “Come, you spirits/That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,/And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full/Of direst cruelty!/Make thick my blood,/Stop up th’ access and passage to remorse…”- This line by Lady Macbeth pretty much sums out how crazy she truly is. She exhibits an unusual amount of power for a woman at that time.
Best Actress: Lady Macbeth is truly a great actress throughout the play. She plays out the “fair is foul” paradox by putting on an innocent face while she is truly an evil plotter of murder.
Best Actor: The Green Knight- He sets a high task for Sir Gawain, and his intentions are true. He also improves Sir Gawain’s state of character due to the task he sets before him.
Best Villain: The dragon in Beowulf-The dragon is the only creature which is able to truly defeat Beowulf, who seems unbeatable.
I think for best actress the award has to go to Lady Macbeth. The way she can act so evil yet also act so sweet and innocent and be convincing gives her my hands down vote for the award. Best overall screenplay is Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. I thought that this story was the most interesting and the easiest to understand. The best villain is Grendel from Beowulf. When you can take out 30 men in a matter of seconds it basically gets you the award. The best on-screen fight is Beowulf vs. Grendel’s mom in Beowulf. This was a very descriptive fight and left the reader interested so it wins the award.
Best Actor-Christopher
You always have to give the award to the actor that does a good job with a mentally handicapped character. He was very interesting, and I felt like I really knew him.
Best Actress- Eliza Doolittle
She really captured the essence of both the lower class and upper class. It shows how little of a difference there really is between the two.
Best Supporting Actor- Colonel Pickering
He plays a huge part in the play but most things he does are hidden. The unobtrusiveness of his character really demands the award.
Best Villian- Christopher’s father
The last person you would suspect to be the murderer is the killer. The twist in the writing really helped his ability to win the award.
Best Actor – Sir Gawain: He is the most chivalrous character we have read about and he kept his promise to the Green Knight.
Best Villian – Dragon that killed Beowulf: He is the ultimate test for Beowulf, and he results in the great hero’s death.
Best Fight – Beowulf vs. Gendel’s mother: Beowulf uses an enchanted sword to cut off her head.
Best Overall Screenplay – Canterbury Tales: Over twenty characters stories combined into one long epic of entertainment.
Best Actor-Sir Gawain, because he is so chivalrous and true to his word.
Best Actress- Lady Macbeth, because she can hold Macbeth together and convince him to kill the King.
Best On-Screen (in-text) Fight- Tom Cruise vs. the devil guy in Legend, because this is such an epic battle of light vs. darkness and good vs. evil.
Best Best Overall Screenplay (story)- Legend, because it was such a quality story.
The best villian of the year would have to be Lady Macbeth. She is the perfect villian because she looks like she would be a good person, but on the inside she is a very mean and controlling woman. The best on-screen fight would have to be between the Green Knight and Sir Gawain. They were really fighting, but at the same time were calling each other cowards for flintching when the sword was swung at them. The best story for me so far is Macbeth. I like it because it shows how people are one way but can really be the other.
Best Line: Lady Macbeth saying, “Unsex me”. This is a classic quote that will forever live on in 5th period. We should really make a bumber sticker.
Best Actor: Beowulf because he is a man’s man. He is the fearless warrior who can conquer all.
Best Supporting Actor: Wiglaf because he is the only supporting actor Beowulf has in his final moments of life.
Best On-Screen Fight: The fight that occurs in the Wife of Bath’s tale. Nobody knows who is who, and they all are hitting whoever is next to them. The fight claims this spot when the Miller’s wife winds up beating up the Miller.
Best Actress: Lady Macbeth. She made her blatantly fake faint, seem real to the other men.
Best Actor: Beowulf. He saved his town from Grendel and his mom.
Best Best Overall Screenplay (story): Macbeth. This story is a great tragedy and has alot of twists that are fun to follow.
Best Villain: Grendel. Grendel terrorized the town and once killed thirty people in one night.
Best Actress: Lady Macbeth
She is confident and strong. She makes most of the decisons for Macbeth.
Best Actor: Sir Gawain
He is a chivalrous knight and he did not back out of the challenge/promise he and the Green Knight made.
Best Best Overall Story: Curious Incident
I enjoyed reading this book the most because it was entertaining.
Best Villian: Grendel
He kills so many men in Herot Hall and Beowulf comes over just to kill him.

Best On-Screen (in-text) Fight- Beowulf vs the Dragon; The fight had a good ending and was very suspenseful.
Best Villian- The dragon in Beowulf; He was able to kill many people before Beowulf fought him.
Best Villain- Lady Mcbeth due to everyone expecting her to be so good when she is really a very evil person who helped commit a murder.
Best On-Screen (in-text) Fight would most definitley be Beowulf and Grendal because it was such a horrific fight.
Best Actor is Sir Gawain because he is set out on a journey and is taught many things on it
Best Best Overall Screenplay (story) is Curious Incident of the Dog and the Night because it is the first time i have read a book that was written in that type of way. It was very interesting and had a great story plot.
Best Actress: Lady Macbeth. She at first played a ruthless, cunning, and overpowering individual who pretended to be sweet and innocent. She later declined to become meaker and in the end she commited suicide. She played an incredibly diverse character who could fit all manner of roles.
Best Actor: Christopher. Though he was mentally handicapped, he was still an incredibly complex, interesting, and unique character.
Best Line: “Unsex me here” said by Lady Macbeth. It was incredibly memorable and somewhat shocking to come in in one of Shakespeare’s plays. It was also very significant to the play and helped introduce Lady Macbeth’s twisted character.
Best Fight: Beowulf vs. the Dragon. Beowulf had many heroic battles, but the Dragon was the creature that finally defeated him.
Best Villain – Macbeth because you can not help but feel sorry for him even though he is going around killing all of these people. He is the only villain to make it seem like he is good.
Best Fight – Beowulf vs The Dragon, It was the most epic battle of all time
Best Story – The Reeves Tale, I liked the way that guy told a story
Best Line – “And up he rose, and by the wench he crept.
This wenche lay upright, and fast she slept,
Till he so nigh was, ere she might espy,

Now play, Alein, for I will speak of John
Best Actress- Lady Macbeth. She acts so innocent and sweet when really she is like the devil.

Best Screen Play- Reeves Tale. Defintally keeps your attention with all the sex and weird events. HAHA
Best Actor: Christopher from “The Curious Incident…” gets this award because he is, of course, the good guy that everyone easily falls in love with. His story is sweet and something everyone can enjoy.
Best Actress: Lady Macbeth from “Macbeth” gets this award because she is the crazy wife who wants everything in the would like being queen.
Best Villian: Grendal from “Beowulf” gets this award because he is a monster. Isn’t every monster considered a villian?
Best Overall Screenplay: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime” gets this award because it had the best story and plot. It was easy to understand without any strange dialect!
Best On-Screen Fight: Beowulf fighting Grendel because he cut off his head and that was neat.
Best Villian- Grendel because he is pretty much the epitome of evil mosters.
Best Actor- Sir Gawain because he remained faithful to his duties of a knight, though it was hard for him.
Best Overall Screenplay: Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime, because it was an interesting story told from a unique point of view.
i hate this class and mrs caldwell is mean when shes pregnant
The best actress would have to be Lady Macbeth. Her dramatic soliloquoy qualifies her the best actress. The best actor would have to be Beowulf. His confidence and willingness to fight make him the best actor. The best fight was between Grendel’s mother and Beowulf. It involved a real fight with death, not just a battle based on moralism. The best overall screen play is The Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. The story was the best since it was told from a different perspective. It reveals the complexity of a human mind.
